A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is a secure digital key that certifies the identity of the holder, issued by a Certifying Authority (CA). It typically contains your identity (name, email, mobile number, country, APNIC account name and your public key). Digital Certificates use Public Key Infrastructure meaning data that has been digitally signed or encrypted by a private key can only be decrypted by its corresponding public key. Currently the Digital Signature is used for various statutory compliances including fillings at Income Tax, ROC, GST, EPF, Trademarks, eTenderings, etc. There are currently following classes of Digital Signatures used in India,

• Class 3 Signing – used for Income Tax, ROC, GST, EPF, Trademarks, etc.
• Class 3 Combo (Signing + Encryption) – used for eTendering
• DGFT

Digital Signature Certificate can be issued in 10 to 15 minutes through PAN-based KYC verification in paperless way. It is an easy and fast way to get Digital Signature. Subscriber has to upload KYC documents including Photo, copy of PAN, copy of address proof, unique email id and mobile number. Subscriber has to record a video for verification in which he has to clearly show his PAN card and Address Proof and upload the same documents to the Certifying Authority for verification. DSC is issued once PAN, Video, Email and Mobile of the applicant are verified.

The Digital signature after approval is downloaded in a pendrive like device called TOKEN.
