About the author
The author, Mr. Ramamurthy. S, is an advocate practicing before the Madras High Court
and has also appeared before the High Courts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kolkata,
and Delhi. His primary areas of professional interest and practice are Taxation,
Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, and Insolvency.
The author’s specialization in Customs law ensues from his integral involvement in
intricate and multifaceted litigations under the Customs Act, 1962, and the Customs
Tariff Act, 1975. In addition to disputes under the Indian customs law, the author has
also dealt with critical issues under the customs legislations of the United States of
America, Japan, European Union, Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of
China. In this commentary, the chapter on valuation of goods manifests the author’s
specialized knowledge of the legal systems of India, the United States of America, and
the European Union.
